Onion Chutney Recipe / Ullipaya Pachadi / Erragadda Pachadi

Ingredients

  • 2 big Onions roughly chopped
  • Lemon sized Tamarind
  • 2 Green Chillies
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 2 sp grated Jaggery
  • Salt to taste
  • For Chutney Popu :
  • 5 Red Chillies
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Methi Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 pinch Inguva
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Clean, wash tamarind and soak in little quantity of water and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a fry pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add green chillies and fry for a min, then turn off the heat.
  3. First grind red chillies, green chillies and soaked tamarind, next add turmeric powder, salt, fried popu, jaggery and blend it again.
  4. If needed and little water, finally add onion pieces and blend it slightly, then transfer into a serving bowl.
  5. Now ullipaya pachadi/onion chutney is ready, serve with steamed white rice and ghee.
