Ingredients

  • 1 small cup Toor Dal
  • 2 cups chopped Spinach/Palakura
  • 1 small Mango chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Red chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 pinch Inguva
  • 2 Red Chillies
  • Curry Leaves
  • 1 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Clean, wash the spinach leaves thoroughly and chop them into small pieces and keep aside.
  2. Wash and soak toor dal for 10 mins, wash raw mango, peel off the skin and cut it into small pieces.
  3. In a medium pressure cooker add the soaked toor dal, chopped spinach, green chillies, chopped mango pieces and add 1 cup of water into it.
  4. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 3 whistles, turn off the flame and allow it to cool.
  5. Once the cooker cool remove the lid and add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and mix it well, let it cook on low flame for a couple of mins and remove from the heat.
  6. Heat 1 sp oil in a small frying pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add it to cooked dal mixture and mix well and transfer into a serving bowl.
  7. Spinach mango dal/palak mamidikaya pappu is ready to serve, serve with white rice or roti.
