Rice Rava Idly / Biyyam Rava Idly - how to prepare Rice Rava Idly

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Urad Dal
  • 2 cups Rice Rava / Biyyam Nooka
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 pinch Cooking Soda (optional )

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak urad dal in water for 2-3 hours and drain.
  2. Grind the soaked urad dal to a fine paste with enough water in a blender & transfer it into a bowl.
  3. Add rice rava to ground urad dal paste and combine well, cover and keep aside to ferment over night.
  4. Once the batter is fermented add salt, cooking soda & mix well.
  5. Add enough water to the fermented batter and make it a thick pouring consistency.
  6. Grease the idly plates with little ghee / oil and fill with the batter.
  7. Place the idly plates in the idly cooker and cook for 10 to 15 mins.
  8. Once done turn off the heat & leave it for 2-3 mins & remove them.
  9. Now biyyapa rava idlys are ready to serve, serve hot with chutney, sambar.
