Tomato Poha Recipe / Thakkali Aval Bath / Tomato Poha Upma

Ingredients

  • 1 cup thick Poha/Atukulu/Aval
  • 2 Tomatoes chopped
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric powder
  • fistful Peanuts
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • Curry leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash well and soak poha for 2 mins, then squeeze them and keep aside. Heat oil in pan add popu ingredients and fry. Then add peanuts, curry leaves, chopped green chillies and fry for a while.
  2. Once done add chopped onion, turmeric powder, little salt and stir-fry until the onions are soft, stirring frequently.
  3. Then add in chopped tomatoes and stir, cover and cook on low flame, until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
  4. Add squeezed poha, salt and mix very well, cook on low flame for a couple of mins with cover. Now tomato poha/tomato aval upma is ready, transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
