Usiri Avakaya / Indian Gooseberry Pickle / Amla Pickle
Ingredients
- 1 kg Amla/Usirikayalu
- 200 gr Red Chilli Powder
- 200 gr Rai Powder/Mustard Powder
- 150 gr Salt
- 250 gr Oil
- Juice of 2 Lemons
Instructions
- Wash well and clean amlas with a soft cloth without moisture.
- Heat oil in a bowl place usirikayalu and cover with a plate, pour 1/2 cup of water on it.
- Cook on medium flame for 10 mins, once done turn off the heat.
- Allow it to cool, once cooled add remaining ingredients and mix.
- Mix the pickle very carefully without leaving the seeds, now usirikaya avakai is ready.
- Serve it with steamed white rice along with ghee. It keeps in a dry bottle.
