Teepi Venna Undalu/Sweet Butter Balls/Suji Sweet Balls–Sri Krishna Janmashtami Recipes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Suji/Semolina/Bombay Rava
  • 2 sp Fresh Butter/Venna or Ghee
  • 1 pinch Cooking Soda
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • Oil for deep fry

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl combine above ingredients (except oil & sugar) and mix together, then add enough water and make a dough like chapathi dough & keep aside for 30 mins with cover.
  2. After that knead it again, divide the dough and make small marble size balls and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan for deep fry, once hot fry them on medium heat until golden brown color.
  4. Then remove from the pan & keep them aside, repeat the same process with the remaining dough balls.
  5. Now boil 1/4 cup of water and add sugar into it and make a thick syrup, remove the pan from the flame then add in fried butter balls and stir very well.
  6. When the sugar has fully coated with the butter balls then transfer them to a plate and allow them to cool down completely.
  7. Now sweet butter balls are ready for naivedyam to Bhagavan Sri Krishna. Store them in an airtight container.
  8. Sweet butter balls is usually made at home during traditional festivals such as Gokulashatmi & Vinayaka Chavithi.
